Canadian County, Oklahoma

Canadian County is just west of Oklahoma City. It’s a place where the suburbs give way to wide-open prairie. It’s one of the fastest-growing counties in the state.
People are moving here in droves. El Reno is one of the bigger towns and is famous for its onion burgers. Trust me, they’re worth the trip.
History runs deep in Canadian County. Fort Reno, an old cavalry post, still stands. You can almost hear the ghostly sound of horse hooves. The Chisholm Trail ran right through here back in the day.

Canadian County has a broad, blocky shape with some curves along the southern edge. The Canadian River helps define half of the southern boundary. Though most borders follow survey lines, that river gives the county its name and a little extra character.
