US Counties

Autauga County sits in central Alabama, just northwest of Montgomery. It’s home to Prattville, known as “The Fountain City”.

Baldwin County is Alabama’s largest by area. It’s on the Gulf Coast, east of Mobile. Beach time! Gulf Shores and Orange Beach draw tourists like seagulls to a dropped sandwich.

Barbour County is in southeast Alabama, bordering Georgia. The county was named after James Barbour, a Virginia governor.

Bibb County is smack in the middle of Alabama. Centreville is the county seat. It’s a small place, big heart.

Blount County is in north-central Alabama, part of the Birmingham metro area. Blount was named after a Tennessee governor.

Bullock County sits in southeast Alabama. The county was named after a Civil War colonel (Colonel Edward C. Bullock).

Butler County is in south Alabama. Greenville’s the biggest town. Hank Williams grew up here and about 20,000 people live in the county.

Calhoun County is in northeast Alabama. About 110,000 folks live here. It’s right on I-20, halfway between Atlanta and Birmingham.

Chambers County hugs the Georgia line in east Alabama. The county is named after Henry H. Chambers, a U.S. Senator from Alabama.

Cherokee County is in northeast Alabama, bordering Georgia. It’s named after the Cherokee Nation, who originally inhabited the area.

Choctaw County is in southwest Alabama, right on the Mississippi line. The county got its name from the Choctaw people living here.

Clarke County sits in southwest Alabama. Grove Hill is the county seat with about 25,000 people who call it home.

Clay County is in east central Alabama. It’s a small place with only about 13,000 people in the county. But big things come in small packages.

Coffee County is in southeast Alabama, named after General John Coffee. There are two county seats here, including Enterprise and Elba.
