Michigan Counties

Michigan’s southern border is home to Lenawee County. It’s just an hour southwest of Detroit, but feels worlds away from any big cities.

Livingston County is located in the southeast of Michigan. The county has rolling hills, sparkling lakes, and forests that go on forever.

Luce County is up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, perched right on Lake Superior’s shoreline. This is a place where nature reigns supreme.

At the very tip of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, sits Mackinac County. This is a land of bridges, ferries, and fudge.

Macomb County is located just northeast of Detroit and is a part of Metro Detroit. Warren is the largest city and a manufacturing hub.

Picture a part of Michigan on the western shore of the Lower Peninsula. That’s Manistee County for you with sandy beaches and thick forests.

Marquette County is the fourth biggest county in the state by area. The county seat is Marquette and sits on the shore of Lake Superior.

Mason County sits on the western edge of Michigan, hugging the shore of Lake Michigan. The county seat is Ludington, a lakeside town.

Mecosta County has rolling farmlands and lakes, in the heart of Michigan. Big Rapids, the county seat, is home to Ferris State University.

Menominee County sits right at the southern tip of the Upper Peninsula, hugging the Wisconsin border. It’s where forests meet Lake Michigan.

Midland County is in the heart of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. The county’s namesake city, Midland, is home to Dow Chemical Company.

Missaukee County is a square county in the Lower Peninsula. Lake City, the county seat, lives up to its name with a lake right in town.

Monroe County stretches along the state’s southeastern edge. It borders Toledo, Ohio, directly to the south.

Montcalm County is in the middle of Michigan’s mitten, northeast of Grand Rapids. It has a lot of small towns and Stanton as the county seat.

Montmorency County is in the northern part of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. It’s a land of forests, lakes, and small towns that feels far away.
