Mississippi Counties

Washington County lies deep in the heart of the Mississippi Delta. Greenville is the county seat and sits right on the Mississippi River.

Pine forests blanket much of Wayne County in southeastern Mississippi. The De Soto National Forest occupies the southwestern region.

Webster County sits in the northeastern part of Mississippi. Mathiston and Eupora are the main towns. But Walthall is the county seat.

Wilkinson County is down in the southwest corner of Mississippi. The Mississippi River forms its western border, next to Louisiana.

Winston County is situated in the heart of Mississippi. Louisville is the county seat, a town located right in the center.

Yalobusha County is in north-central Mississippi. It’s named after a Choctaw phrase meaning “tadpole place”, so lots of creeks and ponds.

Yazoo County is named after the Yazoo River, which snakes its way through the land like a muddy ribbon. Yazoo City is the heart of it all.
