Lake County, Michigan

In the heart of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula lies Lake County, a land of forests, rivers, and small towns. It’s a place where time seems to slow down. Pine and hardwood trees dominate the landscape, broken up by winding streams and hidden lakes.
The Pere Marquette River is famous for its steelhead and salmon runs. Anglers live to come here from across the country. Summers here are a flurry of outdoor activities… Hiking, camping, and canoeing top the list.
When winter blankets the county in snow, snowmobilers and cross-country skiers take over. Baldwin, the county seat, serves as the central hub. Unfortunately, it’s one of Michigan’s poorest counties with many residents struggling to make ends meet.
