Madison County, Virginia

Madison County Location Map Virginia

Madison County hugs the eastern slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains in central Virginia. Shenandoah National Park runs along its northern edge. It’s a place of stunning beauty.

Despite its proximity to Charlottesville, Madison has kept its rural character. Down in the valleys, farms and orchards thrive in the rich soil. Apples are big business here. Come fall, you can pick your own right off the tree.

The county seat is also called Madison. Its courthouse dates back to 1828 and still holds court today. You can find President James Madison’s ancestral home, Montpelier, here too. Historians come here to see where the Father of the Constitution grew up.
