US Counties

Major County sits in Northwest Oklahoma. Wide open spaces define this place. Fairview is the biggest town, but it’s still pretty small.

Marshall County is nestled in south-central Oklahoma, with the Red River and Lake Texoma forming its southern border.

Northeast Oklahoma is lake country, and Mayes County fits right in. Grand Lake o’ the Cherokees is the star attraction.

McClain County is located in central Oklahoma, just south of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. Purcell is known as the “Heart of Oklahoma”.

Southeastern Oklahoma is home to McCurtain County. Forests are everywhere. The Ouachita National Forest covers a good chunk.

McIntosh County is situated in eastern Oklahoma, with Lake Eufaula dominating its landscape. Eufaula is the county seat with lakeside living.

Murray County sits in south-central Oklahoma, home to the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. This place has springs, streams, and lakes.

Muskogee County is in the eastern part of Oklahoma. Muskogee is the county seat, known as the home of country music star Carrie Underwood.

Noble County sits in the north-central part of the state. Perry is the county seat and is known for its historic downtown area.

Nowata County is in the northeastern corner of Oklahoma, bordering Kansas. The name “Nowata” comes from a Delaware word meaning “welcome”.

Okfuskee County is right in the heart of Oklahoma. Woody Guthrie, the famous folk singer, was born here in Okemah (the county seat).

Oklahoma County is right in the center of the state. It’s home to Oklahoma City, the state capital and largest city.

Okmulgee County lies in east-central Oklahoma. It was once the capital of the Creek Nation. That history is still alive here.

Osage County takes up the northeast corner of Oklahoma. It’s the largest county in the state by area and sits next to the state of Kansas.

Ottawa County is at the northeastern tip of Oklahoma. It’s where Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri meet. Miami is the county seat.
