US Counties

Minnesota has 87 counties. The geography here is pretty varied with lots of lakes. They don’t call it the “Land of 10,000 lakes for nothing”.

Mississippi is carved up into 82 counties, which is a pretty hefty number for a state its size. The geography is diverse here.

Missouri’s split into 114 counties, plus the independent city of St. Louis. It mixes the Ozark Mountains, rolling plains and big rivers.

Spanning the vast expanse of Big Sky Country are 56 counties. with the rugged Rocky Mountains, rolling plains and glacier-carved valleys.

In the Cornhusker State, there are 93 counties spread out over its prairies and plains. It’s a pretty high number for Nebraska’s population.

Stretched across the Silver State are 16 counties and one independent city, Carson City. That’s a pretty low number compared to most states.

New Hampshire is divided into just 10 counties, making it one of the states with the fewest counties in the United States of America.

New Jersey is carved up into 21 counties. The Garden State has beaches of the Shore, mountains up north, and everything in between.

New Mexico contains 33 counties with a mix of deserts, mountains, and rich cultural history. It’s not a huge number compared to some states.

New York State is carved up into 62 counties. There is the concrete jungle of NYC, the Finger Lakes region, and the peaks of the Adirondacks.

North Carolina is split into 100 counties, which is a nice round number for a state that’s anything but square.

North Dakota has 53 counties, spread across a landscape that ranges from the Great Plains in the east to the rugged Badlands in the west.

Ohio is carved up into 88 counties. From the shores of Lake Erie to the hills of Appalachia, the Buckeye State has a variety of landscapes.

There are 77 counties in Oklahoma, putting it right in the middle of the pack nationwide. Oklahoma is a mix of plains, hills, and forests.

Oregon is home to 36 counties. It’s a diverse state geographically, with coastal regions, dense forests, and high deserts.
