Adams County, Iowa

You’ll find Adams County tucked away in the southwest corner of Iowa. It’s the state’s smallest county by population, with just over 3,600 residents calling it home.
The annual Adams County Fair in Corning draws crowds from miles around for its demolition derby and pie-eating contests. Lake Icaria is a local hotspot, including the recreational area that surround it.
But if you asked me what’s Corning’s claim to fame? It’s the birthplace of Johnny Carson, the legendary late-night TV host. Yep, that’s right. You can still visit where he grew up in Corning. Not bad for a county with the lowest population.
