It’s famous for its maple syrup production. In fact, it’s one of the top producers in Ohio. Chardon is the county seat and is known for its annual Maple Festival. It’s the oldest of its kind in the United States. Needless to say, it’s a sweet celebration of local culture. Pardon the pun.
Punderson State Park is a year-round destination. In winter, it’s great for sledding and cross-country skiing. The Amish community has a strong presence here. Geauga County’s location along the Grand River Valley makes it ideal for wineries.

From above, the county is mostly green. Dense forests dominate, especially in the central and southern sections. Though towns like Chardon pop up, they don’t cover much land. Farmland break the trees, but not by much. Wetlands and small lakes are sprinkled throughout.
