Highland County sits high in the Allegheny Mountains, right on the West Virginia border. They call it “Virginia’s Little Switzerland”.
It’s the least populous county in Virginia. Monterey, the county seat, has fewer than 200 residents. But what Highland lacks in people, it makes up for in natural beauty.
