Island County, Washington

Island County is in the heart of Puget Sound, north of Seattle. Whidbey and Camano islands make up the bulk of Island County. Coupeville, on Whidbey, is the county seat. It’s one of the oldest towns in Washington.
The vibe here is laid-back and artsy. You’ll find cute coastal towns, historic sites, and plenty of beaches. All of them are super charming in their own right.
Whidbey Island Naval Air Station is a major presence. The roar of jets is part of daily life. But so is the quiet of nature preserves and state parks. Deception Pass Bridge is a must-see. It’s an engineering marvel with killer views. Whale watching is big here too.
