Kitsap County, Washington

Kitsap County juts out into Puget Sound, just a ferry ride away from Seattle. It’s a peninsula with a whole lot of coastline. The Navy has a big presence here. You’ll see submarines in the waters around Bremerton.
But it’s not all military. Bainbridge Island draws day-trippers and wine taste testers. The county has a rural feel in parts, with forests and farms. People here love their outdoor activities like kayaking and hiking.
The county’s named after Chief Kitsap of the Suquamish Tribe. His legacy lives on. You can visit the grave of Chief Seattle (yes, that Seattle) on the Port Madison Indian Reservation. It’s a place where history and modernity mix in interesting ways.
