Lee County, Florida

Lee County has a bit of everything. It’s on Florida’s Gulf Coast, anchored by Fort Myers. The county is named after Robert E. Lee, which stirs up controversy now and then. Sanibel and Captiva Islands draw shell collectors from all over.
You’ve got beaches, mangroves, and the Caloosahatchee River running through. The Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins do spring training here. Fort Myers Beach is party central during spring break. There’s a nice mix of retirees and families in the area.
The Edison and Ford Winter Estates are a big tourist draw. Traffic can be a nightmare during snowbird season. Lee County is growing fast, but still has pockets of old Florida charm. Here, you can fish in the morning and catch a baseball game in the afternoon.
