Onondaga County has more hills than you’d expect. The land rises south of Syracuse into steep ridges and glacial valleys. Onondaga Lake sits low in the center. The terrain shapes the city itself, with neighborhoods built around hillsides. The Finger Lakes’ edge brushes in from the west, adding to the relief.
