Cortland County, New York

Cortland County is right in the middle of the state of New York. Cortland is the county seat, where the Tioughnioga River winds through. Its downtown area is a charming mix of Victorian architecture and modern shops.
Local dairy farms produce some of the state’s best cheese. But it’s mostly apple country here. The area is famous for its Cortland apples, developed at the nearby Cornell University. Speaking about education, the county is also home to SUNY Cortland University.
The county has a rich history in clock making. You can explore this at the Suggett House Museum. Visitors come here for the hiking trails and ski slopes. Greek Peak, the largest ski resort in central New York, is a major draw. There are also great spots for kayaking and fishing.
