Tazewell County, Virginia

Tazewell County is tucked away in the mountains of southwest Virginia, where the Appalachians show off their rugged beauty. It’s coal country, with a rich mining heritage that’s shaped the area’s culture.
The county’s been around since 1799, named after a Virginia senator. Bluefield is one of the largest towns and sits right on the West Virginia border. But Tazewell is the county seat.
You can’t miss the stunning Clinch Mountain range. It dominates the landscape. Burke’s Garden, known as “God’s Thumbprint,” is a sight to behold. It’s a bowl-shaped valley surrounded by mountains. The people here have a strong sense of community. Visitors will love the hiking and ATV trails. And if you’re into history, check out the Historic Crab Orchard Museum. Tazewell has character.
