Ventura County, California
Ventura County is Southern California’s coastal playground. The city of Ventura has a laid-back beach vibe and it’s the county seat. Thousand Oaks is more suburban.
The county has some serious agriculture. This area grows lots of strawberries and lemons. The Channel Islands are off the coast which is great for kayaking and seeing wildlife.
Highway 101 runs through the county and the population is around 835,000. Unfortunately, traffic can be a pain, especially heading towards LA. It’s not cheap, but it’s less pricey than LA or Santa Barbara.
