Will County, Illinois
Will County sits on the edge of the Chicago metro area. Joliet is the county seat. This gritty river town is really trying to reinvent itself and is growing fast. Interstate 80 and 55 cut through here, bringing a constant flow of truck traffic.
Cornfields are giving way to subdivisions and strip malls. The county has old industrial areas, gleaming new warehouses, and patches of prairie all mixed together.
The Des Plaines River winds through the county, creating some nice scenery in spots. Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie is a view of what Illinois looked like before the plow.
