Atlantic County, New Jersey

Atlantic Location Map New Jersey

Atlantic County sits in the southeastern part of New Jersey, hugging the Atlantic Ocean coastline. It’s home to the glitzy, bustling Atlantic City, famous for its casinos and boardwalk. But there’s more to this county than just gambling and beaches.

The county has a rich history, dating back to its founding in 1837. Farming still plays a big role here, with blueberries being a major crop. Locals love their seafood, especially the fresh catches from nearby waters. Education is important too, with Stockton University calling the county home.

Anyone who loves the outdoors can explore the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge. It’s a place of contrasts, where city lights find natural beauty. You’ll find quiet pine forests and winding rivers inland.

The eastern edge shines with beach towns and boardwalks. Though the rest looks greener, Atlantic City is a dense, gray rectangle near the ocean. Meanwhile, farmlands and woods alternate across the western side. But the biggest feature might be the marshes that hug the coast.

New Jersey packs a lot into 21 counties – beach towns, pine forests and farmland. Trace the colonial history in Hunterdon or walk the boardwalk in Ocean County. There’s more here than meets the Turnpike.
