Minnesota Counties

Pope County sits in the middle of western Minnesota, a place where lakes and farmland come together. Glenwood is the county seat.

Ramsey County is the smallest county in Minnesota by area, but don’t let that fool you. St. Paul, the state capital, calls this place home.

Red Lake County is one of the smallest in terms of population in Minnesota. It’s up in the northwest part of the state, close to North Dakota.

Redwood County is in the southwest part of the state in the prairies. Redwood Falls is the county seat, and has a waterfall right in town.

Renville County sits in the southwestern part of Minnesota, about two hours west of the Twin Cities. It’s farm country here.

Rice County is just an hour south of the Twin Cities. Faribault and Northfield are the big players here, each with its own unique vibe.

Rock County sits in the extreme southwest corner of the state. It’s located right where Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota meet.

Roseau County is in the northwest corner of Minnesota close to Canada. The town of Roseau is known for two things: hockey and snowmobiles.

Scott County is just southwest of the Twin Cities. Shakopee is home to Valleyfair, the largest amusement park in the Upper Midwest.

Sherburne County sits in central Minnesota. The county’s growing fast, attracting folks who want easy access to the Twin Cities.

Sibley County sits in the south-central part of Minnesota, about an hour’s drive southwest of the Twin Cities. It’s farm country here.

St. Louis County is a massive stretch of land in northeastern Minnesota. It borders Lake Superior all the way to the Canadian border.

Stearns County is in central Minnesota and is one of the larger counties. St. Cloud is the county seat and is a hub on the Mississippi River.

Steele County is south of the Twin Cities. It’s mostly flat farmland. Owatonna, the county seat, is where most of the action happens.

Stevens County sits in west-central Minnesota, northwest of Minneapolis. It’s farm country with fields of corn, soybeans, and wheat.
