Mississippi Counties

Jasper County is located in the middle of the state’s east side, nearly bordering Alabama. Bay Springs and Paulding are its two county seats.

Jefferson County sits in the southwestern part of Mississippi, bordering Louisiana. History runs deep, dating back to the early 1800s.

Jefferson Davis County sits in south-central Mississippi, about halfway between Jackson and the Gulf Coast. It’s named after Jefferson Davis.

Jones County is deep in the Piney Woods of southeastern Mississippi. Laurel and Ellisville share the title of county seat.

Kemper County is in east-central Mississippi, right on the Alabama border. The land here rolls and dips, a mix of forests and farmland.

Northwest Mississippi is home to Lafayette County, a place steeped in history. Oxford is the county seat that sits at its heart.

Lamar County is down in southern Mississippi. It’s right next to Hattiesburg and not far from the Gulf Coast. Purvis is the county seat.

The eastern edge of Mississippi is where you’ll spot Lauderdale County. It’s right on the Alabama border, giving folks a taste of two states.

Lawrence County is in southwest Mississippi. It’s a piece of rural life with a dash of small-town. Monticello sits at the heart of it all.

Leake County is the middle of Mississippi. Carthage is the big name here, serving as the county seat. It’s where small-town values matter.

Lee County is up in northeast Mississippi. Tupelo is the star of the show here, famous as Elvis Presley’s birthplace.

The Mississippi Delta’s got a special kind of magic, and Leflore County’s right in the thick of it. You’ll find it in the northwestern.

Down in southwest Mississippi, Lincoln County has a bit of small-town magic. Brookhaven sits at the heart of it all.

Lowndes County is right on the Alabama border, in eastern Mississippi. The Tombigbee Waterway cuts through, bringing life to the area.

Madison County lies just north of Jackson, Mississippi. It’s in the middle of Mississippi, about as central as you can get.
