Oklahoma Counties

Haskell County is a small slice of Oklahoma sitting in the eastern part of the state. The county was named after Charles N. Haskell.

Hughes County sits right in the heart of Oklahoma. Holdenville serves as the county seat, a town with a story or two to tell.

Jackson County is down in southwestern Oklahoma. Farming is the main industry here. Altus is the biggest town and the county seat.

Jefferson County is a little spot in southern Oklahoma you might just fall in love with. Waurika is the county seat.

Johnston County is tucked away in south-central Oklahoma. It’s named after Douglas H. Johnston, a governor of the Chickasaw Nation.

Kay County is up in north-central Oklahoma, bordering Kansas. Ponca City is the largest town. But Newkirk is the county seat.

Kingfisher County sits in central Oklahoma, right in the heart of the state. The town of Kingfisher serves as the county seat.

Kiowa County is a slice of southwestern Oklahoma. Hobart is the county seat. The county’s named after the Kiowa tribe.

Southeast Oklahoma is home to Latimer County. It’s not the biggest county in Oklahoma. Wilburton is the county seat.

Le Flore County is a little piece in southeastern Oklahoma, next to Arkansas. Poteau is the county seat, coming from the French word “Post”.

Lincoln County is right in the middle of Oklahoma, just east of Oklahoma City. You’ll find a mix of prairies and forests here.

Logan County sits in north-central Oklahoma next to the greater Oklahoma City metro area. Guthrie, the county seat, was once the state capital.

Love County is down in south-central Oklahoma. The Red River forms the southern edge, right next to the Texas border in the south.

Major County sits in Northwest Oklahoma. Wide open spaces define this place. Fairview is the biggest town, but it’s still pretty small.

Marshall County is nestled in south-central Oklahoma, with the Red River and Lake Texoma forming its southern border.
