Le Flore County, Oklahoma

Le Flore County is a little piece of paradise in southeastern Oklahoma, next to Arkansas. Poteau is the county seat, coming from the French word “Post”.
The county is named after a Choctaw family, whose influence is still felt here. This is mountain country. The Ouachitas rise up in the distance with national forest occupying the southern area.
The Talimena Scenic Drive is a sight to behold. Especially in fall, when the leaves change color. Agriculture is big here too. But you’ll see plenty of cattle grazing in the valleys.
