Copiah County, Mississippi

Copiah County is just southwest of Jackson. This isn’t your typical tourist trap. It’s real. Copiah has a lot of stories to tell, from Civil War skirmishes to the birth of the blues.
Hazlehurst is the county seat, located right in the center. Crystal Springs once shipped so many tomatoes it earned the nickname “Tomatopolis”. No joke. These days, life moves a bit slower, but that’s part of the appeal.
Copiah isn’t all about the past, though. It’s evolving. The county’s mix of rolling hills and fertile plains makes for some prime farming country. In fact, you’ll find plenty of local produce at roadside stands.
