Decatur County anchors Iowa’s southern tier, bordering Missouri. Leon is the county seat and sits in the middle of the county. The population is about 7,500 with a strong sense of community.
The Thompson River cuts through, creating some surprisingly rugged terrain. Interstate 35 also cuts through the county, making it an easy stop on the way to Kansas City or Des Moines.
