Dixie County, Florida

Dixie County hugs the Gulf Coast in Florida’s Big Bend region. It’s sparsely populated and mostly rural with Cross City serving as the county seat.
The Suwannee River forms its eastern border. Horseshoe Beach is a tiny fishing village on the coast. Fishing is a way of life here, both in the Gulf and local rivers. You’ll find more boats than people in some parts.
Locals enjoy hunting in the county’s vast forests. There’s not much nightlife, but plenty of stars to gaze at. Dixie County feels like Florida before the tourist boom. Time seems to move a bit slower here.
