Franklin County sits in southeastern Washington, sandwiched between the Columbia and Snake Rivers. It’s farm country with endless fields of wheat, potatoes, and onions.
The county’s biggest city, Pasco, forms part of the Tri-Cities metro area along with Kennewick and Richland. It has a cool vibe. You’ll find great wineries, golf courses, and even a professional baseball team.
The weather’s hot and dry in summer and it’s perfect for growing those famous Washington apples. And if you’re into history, check out Palouse Falls State Park. It has a 198-ft. waterfall and campsite.

Franklin County is mostly flat, but don’t let that fool you. Its elevation varies more than you’d expect. Much of the land is part of the broad Columbia Plateau. The Snake River marks a deep cut through the southeast, forming its border on this side.

Franklin County is crossed by Interstate 182 in the southern tip. This highway connects Pasco to Richland and beyond. Though I-182 is short, it ties into U.S. Highway 395, making travel north or south easy. But outside Pasco, roads grow sparse and straight.
