Whitman County, Washington

Rolling hills of wheat define the landscape of Whitman County. It’s in the southeastern corner of Washington, right up against the Idaho border. Farming is the lifeblood of the county. You’ll find some of the most fertile soil in the world here.
Pullman, home to Washington State University, is the county’s biggest town. College football is practically a religion here. Go Cougs! But Colfax is the county seat with more of a small-town feel.
The Palouse region, with its unique loess hills, attracts photographers from all over. It’s especially stunning in late summer when the wheat turns golden. The Snake River forms part of the county’s southern border. It’s a paradise for small-mouth bass fishing.
