Inyo County, California
Inyo County is a land of extremes. It’s home to both the lowest and the highest points in the contiguous United States. I mean it’s a beast of a county.
It runs from Death Valley all the way up to Mammoth Lakes. That’s like going from the lowest point in North America to the Sierra Nevada, all in one county. Mount Whitney, the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states, is here. So is a big chunk of Death Valley.
To say the least, Inyo County is mostly desert and mountains. If you like extreme landscapes and few neighbors, Inyo is your place.
