Mono County, California
Mono County is a playground for outdoor types. It’s tucked away on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada.
Mammoth Lakes is the main draw. It has killer skiing in winter, and great hiking and mountain biking in summer. Mono Lake is weird and cool, with these funky limestone towers sticking out of it.
Highway 395 runs through Mono County. The population is just over 13,000, but visitors come here for world-class fishing, hiking, and skiing at Mammoth Mountain.
