Jefferson County, Montana

Jefferson County is a piece of Big Sky Country in the middle of southwest Montana. Boulder is the county seat, which is a small town and some seriously hot springs. This county’s got a split personality: half mountainous wilderness, half river valleys.
The Elkhorn Mountains loom to the east, while the Continental Divide runs along the western border. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place. The Boulder River cuts through the landscape, a blue ribbon trout stream that’ll make any angler’s heart skip a beat.
Ranching is still a way of life here, but don’t be fooled. There’s a growing tech scene too. Summers are gorgeous but short. Winters? They’re not for the faint of heart. But if you can handle the cold, you’ll be rewarded with some of the most stunning scenery Montana has to offer.
