Middlesex County, Virginia

Middlesex County is part of Virginia’s Middle Peninsula, sandwiched between the Rappahannock and Piankatank rivers. The Rappahannock River meets the Chesapeake Bay in Middlesex County. Water is a way of life here.
Deltaville is at the county’s eastern tip. It’s a boater’s paradise. They don’t call it the “Boating Capital of the Chesapeake Bay” for nothing. Urbanna, the county’s only incorporated town, is tiny but full of character.
You can’t beat the seafood here. It’s fresh off the boat and onto your plate. The county’s rural, but it has a quirky side. Hummel Field, the local airport, hosts an annual fly-in and pig roast. Only in Middlesex would you find planes and pork in the same sentence.
