Nassau County is in northeast Florida. It’s just north of Jacksonville, bordering Georgia. Fernandina Beach, on Amelia Island, is the county seat and main draw.
The island has 13 miles of pristine beaches and a charming historic district. Inland, it’s mostly rural with small towns like Yulee and Callahan. The county has deep roots in shrimping and paper mill industries. You’ll find a mix of old Florida charm and new developments.
Fort Clinch State Park has camping and Civil War history. Wild horses roam free on Cumberland Island, just across the state line. Nassau County is where you can fish in the morning and catch a sunset on the beach in the evening.
