Plymouth County claims Iowa’s northwest corner, butting up against South Dakota and Nebraska. The county gets its name from Plymouth, Massachusetts, of Mayflower fame.
Le Mars, the county seat, proudly calls itself the “Ice Cream Capital of the World,” home to Blue Bunny ice cream. You can tour their ice cream parlor and museum downtown.
Every fall, Remsen hosts Oktoberfest, celebrating the area’s German heritage with beer, brats, and polka music. This has been going on since 1973 and really sounds like a fun time.
