Sioux County occupies Iowa’s northwest corner, named after the Sioux Native American tribe. Orange City, the county seat, goes all out for its annual Tulip Festival, celebrating its Dutch heritage.
Sioux Center is home to Dordt University, a private Christian college. With about 35,000 residents, Sioux County is one of Iowa’s fastest-growing rural counties.
Oak Grove State Park offers camping along the Big Sioux River. It’s also the headquarters for the Sioux County Conservation Board. Agriculture dominates the economy, with numerous dairy farms and meat processing plants.
