Shelby County nestles in southwest Iowa, named after Kentucky’s first governor, Isaac Shelby. Harlan, the county seat, features a beautiful courthouse square.

The county’s known for its Danish heritage. In fact, the town of Elk Horn boasts an authentic Danish windmill and hosts Tivoli Fest each May.

Highway 59 runs through, connecting it to nearby towns and cities. It’s only about a half hour drive to Omaha. With about 12,000 residents, Shelby County balances farming with small-town charm.
