Siskiyou County, California
Siskiyou is way up north, right on the Oregon border. Mount Shasta dominates everything. It’s massive and supposedly magical (if you’re into that sort of thing).
The county has more trees than people… But isn’t that the same for most counties? Yreka is the biggest town and the county seat. There’s great hiking, skiing, and fishing not too far away.
With a population of around 45,000, Siskiyou County is sparsely populated. Interstate 5 runs through the county, connecting it to Oregon and the rest of California. It’s the kind of place where you might see a cowboy and a hippie in the same diner.
