Shasta County, California
Shasta County is up north, where the Central Valley meets the mountains. There is lots of outdoor stuff to do like hiking, fishing, and swimming. The Sacramento River runs through the county so that makes sense.
Shasta Lake is huge and great for houseboats. It’s actually the largest reservoir in California. Mount Shasta is not actually in the county because it’s just north. But you can see it from most places.
Redding is the big city here, which is also the county seat. With a population of almost 181,000 people, the area is pretty conservative compared to the coast.
