Washington County is situated in southeastern Iowa. It’s a place where agriculture and community are key. The area is known for its strong farming roots.
Washington is the county seat. It has a historic downtown with a beautiful courthouse square. The county is also home to the Kalona Historical Village, showcasing the rich Amish and Mennonite heritage of the region.
U.S. Highway 218 runs through, connecting it to Iowa City to the north and beyond. As you can probably guess, the county is named after the first U.S. president. The population is around 22,000, and still growing.
