Louisa County, Iowa

Louisa County, in southeastern Iowa, is where the Iowa and Mississippi Rivers meet. It’s one of Iowa’s smaller counties, with just over 11,000 residents.
The county seat, Wapello, sits on the Iowa River and was named after a Fox Indian chief. Its flat terrain is ideal for agriculture, with corn and soybeans dominating the landscape.
The county’s name comes from Louisa Massey. You’ve got the Mississippi River on one side and some pretty decent farmland throughout. Folks here tend to keep to themselves, but in a good way.
