Washington County sits in the southwestern corner of Virginia, right on the Tennessee border. It has both history and nature. The Appalachian Trail runs through here, drawing hikers from all over.

You can’t miss the stunning views of Mount Rogers, Virginia’s highest peak (just outside the county in the east). Abingdon, the county seat, is a nice little town with a great arts scene.

Barter Theater is the state theater of Virginia and opened during the Great Depression. Locals traded food for tickets back then. The county is also known for its music heritage. The famous Carter Family lived nearby. If you’re into outdoor activities, this place is a goldmine.
