Sullivan County sits in the northeastern corner of Tennessee, bordering Virginia. It’s part of the Tri-Cities region, along with neighboring Washington and Carter counties.
Although Kingsport is the largest city, Blountville is county seat. Bristol, straddling the Tennessee-Virginia line, is famous for its connection to country music. It’s known as the Birthplace of Country Music.
The area’s natural beauty is hard to beat. South Holston Lake is a favorite spot for fishing and boating. The Appalachian Trail runs through part of the county. And the people are proud of their Appalachian roots.
