Bartow County, Georgia
Bartow County stretches across northwest Georgia, about an hour from Atlanta. Cartersville is the county seat, a town that’s grown quite a bit lately. The county is named after Francis Bartow, a Confederate colonel who died early in the Civil War.
Lake Allatoona in the southeast of the county brings in folks in for boating and fishing. Red Top Mountain State Park is another outdoor hotspot. The area is known for its rich deposits of iron and manganese.
Bartow County blends small-town feel with easy access to big city amenities. It’s a place where the Old South meets the New South, and both seem to get along just fine. I’ve heard the Etowah Indian Mounds are a must-see here.
