Polk County sits in northwest Georgia. The county’s roots stretch back to 1851, named for President James K. Polk. This county has a blue-collar heritage with a growing appreciation for outdoor recreation.
Cedartown is the county seat. It’s known for Big Spring, which pumps out millions of gallons of crystal-clear water daily. Rockmart is the other major town and it boasts a revitalized downtown.
You’ll find a landscape covered with textile mills. Some are still humming, others have just been repurposed. The Silver Comet Trail also cuts through the county south of Rockmart.
