Blue Earth County, Minnesota

Blue Earth County sits in southern Minnesota, about an hour and a half drive south of the Twin Cities. It’s named after the Blue Earth River, which winds through the area. Mankato is the county seat and biggest city.
The landscape is a mix of rolling farmland and patches of forest. You’ll find plenty of outdoor activities, from hiking to fishing. The county has a rich Native American history, particularly tied to the Dakota people.
Minnesota State University, Mankato brings a youthful energy to the area. I’d say the best time to visit is fall, when the trees put on a spectacular show.
