DeSoto County, Florida
DeSoto County lies in south-central Florida, away from the coast. Arcadia, the county seat, has a beautiful historic downtown. Rodeo is popular here. I heard there is some bull riding at the arena at Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo.
It’s a rural area with a strong agricultural heritage. The county is known for its orange groves and cattle ranches. There’s also the annual watermelon festival that brings in crowds from all over the state.
Peace River runs through it, with spots for kayaking and fossil hunting. You’ll find antique shops scattered around Arcadia. DeSoto County isn’t a tourist hotspot, but I think this is what most locals seem to prefer. The county fair is a highlight every year, bringing the community together.
