Fayette County, Tennessee

Fayette County is just east of Memphis, along the Mississippi border. The county’s been around since 1824, named after the Marquis de Lafayette. The county’s growing fast, but it’s working to keep its character.
Somerville serves as the county seat, with its historic courthouse square. You’ll see a lot of cotton fields here and it’s still a major crop. The Wolf River runs through the county, providing some great spots for canoeing and kayaking.
There’s a strong equestrian culture, with horse farms scattered throughout. Barbecue’s a big deal here. Don’t leave without trying some. Fayette’s a place where old South hospitality meets new South progress.
