Gadsden County, Florida

Back in the day, Gadsden County was known as Florida’s shade tobacco capital. Now, it’s a quiet corner of the Panhandle just west of Tallahassee. Quincy, the county seat, has a charming historic district.
Rolling hills and farmland define much of the landscape. It’s one of the few Florida counties without a beach (or few at least). The Ochlockonee River forms part of its eastern border with Lake Talquin as a popular spot for fishing and boating.
The county has a rich African American heritage. You’ll find some beautiful antebellum homes scattered around. Gadsden County moves at its own pace, far from Florida’s tourist hubs. Southern traditions still run deep here.
