Grady County, Georgia

Grady County is a perfect stop on any South Georgia road trip. It’s in the southwest corner of the state, just north of the Florida line. Cairo, the county seat, is known as the “Syrup City” due to its history of cane syrup production.
The county’s flat landscape has farms everywhere. They grow everything from cotton to pecans. Tired travelers can stretch their legs at Birdsong Nature Center, a beautiful wildlife preserve. Local fishermen enjoy casting lines in Tired Creek Lake.
Grady County’s small towns show off authentic rural Georgia life. The area’s economy still relies heavily on agriculture, but it’s working to diversify. One of the nice things is that Grady County is just a short drive from Tallahassee, Florida.
